After School Clubs

A reminder that except when students are commencing a club immediately after school at 2.45pm, all students waiting for clubs must be supervised by an adult.  This means that students are seated with the adult in the downstairs playground area, not running around or playing on the equipment.  Adults are also reminded to wait for students and/or collect them from the downstairs undercover area.  Parents and helpers should not wait inside or outside classrooms or on the stairs or the roof playground.  Your cooperation would be appreciated and will ensure the safety of all.

3 way student/teacher/parent conferences

Our first 3 way conferences are scheduled for the week before the mid term break, commencing Monday 8th of October.  This year we have scheduled two year levels on the same day to try and reduce the number of days that some parents will need to come up to school.  Please note the days are as listed below, and are not correct in the student diary as we have had to swap them around due to staff availability.

Monday 8th October –  Years 4 & 6

Tuesday 9th October –  Year 2 & 5

Wednesday 10th October – Years 1 & 3

You should have received an email this week outlining all the details and the sign up procedures on Gateway for the 3 way conferences.

Parent Information night presentations & Specialist Parent information night.

The Specialist parent information night was very well attended, providing parents with the opportunity to find out more about the different specialist subjects such as Chinese, PE, Music, Library, IT and Individual Needs offered at Clearwater Bay School.

All of the presentation slides from the various year levels as well as the specialist presentation are on the parent page of our website.  This is a password protected page.  An email was sent to you this week to advise of the presentation slides and also give you the password.   Please contact the office if you need any further assistance.

Annual levy

We sent out details of the annual levy arrangements for this year by email this week.   The levy does vary between year levels depending on the trips and excursions undertaken as part of the different Units of Inquiry in each year level.  Year 2 also typically include a theatre experience linked to one of their units of inquiry which adds to the cost in that particular year level.  Please note that School SCamps held in November for Years 4, 5 & 6 are not included in the annual excursion levy and will be billed separately when camp details are provided.

The acquittal for last year’s annual levy for excursions and trips is below.  As usual we will roll forward any remaining surplus/deficit funds and deduct/add this amount from the levy charged this year.  For example,  any funds remaining at the end of Year 1 will be rolled forward and deducted from the levy for Year 2.   New parents to the school who did not pay the levy last year are asked to pay the full amount for the year.

Kind Regards

Chris Hamilton

Principal

Environmental news
Families who visit Sai Kung may have seen a new shop near to the temple on Yi Chun Street called Seed. It stocks lots of environmentally friendly products such as bamboo toothbrushes and flannels. It also stocks locally sourced food products such as noodles and nuts that can be taken away in your own containers. It’s certainly worth a visit.

AUTHORS CORNER
In the newly refurbished Learning Resources Centre there is area known as the ‘Authors Corner’ which devotes its display to children’s writing.  We encourage and support all students who wish to write stories.  Students can hand in their stories for display and these can be borrowed and read by others endorsing them as published authors. Please see Mrs. Barwell in the LRC for more details.
Later in the term CWBS will be entering the Hong Kong Young Writers Award Competition 2019.  This competition is for students who have a passion for writing and further details will be available in October. (Students can only enter the competition through the school).
CELEBRATING ROALD DAHL WEEK
Students have been having fun celebrating Roald Dahl week exploring Dahl stories and  finding ‘Wonka’s Golden Tickets in books in the Learning Resource Centre.
