Dad and Me Love History
One of our students, James Letters, and his father Paul have recently launched their podcast series ‘Dad and Me Love History’. It’s fun and educational (a bit like – but not a copy of – Horrible Histories) and is designed to get kids away from screens. Here are the first few episode topics:
- The Most Important Question in History
- Was the Great Wall of China built by an awesome leader or a crazy dude?
- Why was the Roman army so awesome?
- Why did Henry VIII need six wives?
- The history of “Mr Lego” and Mr Disney: who’s the best ever?
Have a look at their brilliant work on the following links…….
Please take note that any school jackets sold within 1 year can be repaired free of charge by Aston Wilson LTD. You can also order longer length trousers for winter season. There will be a limited stock of size 22 uniform items which will be available soon. Please contact the uniform shop for more details.
The lost property boxes are full again. If your child has lost something please ask them to check the boxes. It is very important that all items are clearly labelled with your child’s name. We will recycle anything that is unclaimed on Tuesday 27th March. Please could a few parents volunteer to spare an hour or two on Tuesday 27th March to sort out the lost property – contact the PTA office if you can help with this – tea, coffee and biscuits will be provided!
The PTA sells a variety of items, including stationery, lined white boards for handwriting practice, recorders, hair ties, second hand uniform, tennis balls, mosquito repellent, second hand uniform and second hand books and DVDs. We also stock cards and wrapping paper.
Many thanks to parents, Leanne Tsang and Wen Tao for helping to sort out and bring the lost and found uniforms to the classrooms.
We are accepting any second hand children’s books or DVDs you’d like to donate, please drop them off at the PTA office.
International Day of Happiness 2018
Your child is invited to join CWBS in celebrating The United Nations International Day of Happiness on Tuesday March 20th. The United Nations recognises happiness and wellbeing as a universal goal and aspiration in the lives of people around the world.
To celebrate, we ask that your child wear bright colours to school. A $20 donation would be greatly appreciated to support the United Nations in continuing their work with the universal goals.
News from the Medical Room
According to the Centre for Health Protection (CHP), there is still a high level of influenza activity in Hong Kong at the moment.
Please be vigilant and do the following:
1. Check your child’s temperature daily
Due to the prevalence of influenza activity could we ask that children have their temperatures checked before school. If their temperature is above 37.5 then please keep them home for 48 hours af
ter their temperature has returned to normal to ensure they have fully recovered. Please be reminded that paracetamol will reduce your child’s temperature so please ensure you take their te
mperature at least 6 hours after the last dose before deciding when to return them to school.
- Keeping your child off school for 48hrs post fever will not only prevent the potential spread to other students, it will also give your child’s immune system time to recover which will mean they
will be less likely to pick something else up when they return.
2. Inform the school
For monitoring purposes please inform the nurse or school if your child is absent from school via firstname.lastname@example.org or email@example.com
3. Remind your child to wash their hands.
Remind your child about the correct hand washing technique and encourage them to wash their hands after using the toilet, before eating, after blowing their nose and on a regular basis throughout the day. Good hand hygiene as well as covering their cough (with their elbow) remains the best form of prevention.
