恭喜發財, Happy New Year, Gong Xi Fa Cai, Kung Hei Fat Choy to everyone. It has been a busy three weeks for the school and the PTA office. This half term we held the Year 3 and 4 Social with a record attendance of 150 children for a Street Dance party. Although we look at this event as a ‘treat night’ and serve the children pizza the food was reviewed following the launch of the healthy eating policy. The children were served fruit and veggie sticks and were not given sweets when they left. Following parent feedback we did not order from PizzaBox and the pizza was of a better quality.
It’s great to see the children using the new playground toys and equipment purchased with the school fair funds and to learn that the Year 6 wet play equipment and games have arrived. The PTA gave lai see to the caretaking and cleaning staff ahead of the New Year holiday, something that is always well received and shows the school’s appreciation of their hard work.
We have purchased the ‘That Sugar Film’ schools toolkit and we are happy to announce that it has just arrived. This will be used to support the healthy eating policy and educating students about sugar in our diets and all the hidden sugar we may not be aware of.
A reminder that the PTA office will be closed on Wednesdays but open on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from 8:15am – 2:45pm.
We are sad to announce that our Vice Chairperson, Kristrun Lind Birgisdottir, will be standing down. We would like to take this opportunity to thank her for all her hard work and support as a volunteer and committee member and wish her well for the future. If anyone would like to take on this role please do get in touch with the PTA office – even if you have only been with the the school for a short time it is a great way to get involved. There are about eight PTA Committee meetings per school year so the role can be as big or small as you wish to make it.
The Lost property boxes are overflowing and if any parents can volunteer an hour or two of time it would be good to sort through it and return the named items. Please talk to your children about taking care of their belongings and ask them to look in the lost property boxes if they lose something. You can also help by ensuring all items that are brought to school are clearly labelled with the child’s name and current class. We often find children wearing hats that don’t belong to them! Show your child the labels on their clothing so that they know where to look. Explain to your children that they should not borrow from the lost property boxes as this causes problems for the owner when they come to look for their items.
