If you would like your child to visit the sale then please send them into school with some money next Friday. Proceeds will go towards the new climbing equipment.

If you have any books that you would like to donate please drop them off at the PTA office. If you have a spare 30 minutes to help sort out books during the week then please let the PTA office know, or just drop in.

The event is free but those attending the event should bring a plate of food to share. Priority is given to volunteers and places will be offered on a first come first served basis.

Save Our Oceans School Fair –Saturday 4 November 2017

Thank you to those who have offered to help with the organisation. We are still urgently seeking someone to coordinate the class games/ stalls, one or two overall fair coordinators and someone to look after advance ticket and token sales. Please contact the PTA office if you are interested in getting involved, as it would be great to have this in place before the end of term.

The fair is the PTA’s biggest fundraising event and children and parents really enjoy the day. It will be fundraising for new climbing equipment and safety flooring for the playground.

If you are able to donate a Silent Auction prize for the fundraising efforts, new toys, new clothing or gifts then please get in touch.

Hot Lunches and Healthy Eating

The PTA and a group of parents have been working to improve the nutritional value of the hot lunches. We are very excited to be able to offer healthier options starting from next term.

There will be two suppliers working at CWBS from August giving children and parents more choice. Our existing supplier, Tastee Gourmet, will continue to operate a hot lunch service however, they will be improving the quality of their lunches by including more vegetables, removing the most unhealthy options, using free range eggs and swapping to better quality oil (coconut oil and olive oil). There will be a price increase to $32 per meal and the ordering will be done in the same way.

A second supplier will offer hot lunches that can be ordered online directly with the company. These meals will be organic (where possible), using high quality produce from selected farmers and suppliers, imported (not from China) meat, free-range eggs, more vegetables and protein to carbohydrate and good quality oil (coconut /olive). The menus are developed and designed by a Michelin starred chef and are highly nutritious for children. These will be available in two portion sizes at $45 and $49 per meal.

Job Opening – PTA Administrator

Kerena and Kate will be leaving at the end of term so we are looking for two PTA Administrators to start in August on a job share basis. The administrator role includes organising and managing the PTA office, working with parents, teachers and children and helping to organise our fundraising events. Please click here for the job description. The deadline for applications is June 22nd.

Online Forms & Payments

In our efforts to go paper-free the PTA is moving towards online invoicing to replace cheque and cash payments. Please be aware of this when you receive sign up forms after the summer holidays. If any parents have suggestions for managing this process or would like to help the PTA set up an efficient (low cost) online payment system then please contact the PTA office.

Staff Appreciation Lunch

The staff appreciation lunch will take place on Wednesday 28 June from 12 noon.  Class contacts are asked to send in food that is ready to serve.  As we are providing lunch for all staff members, we do also need food from a few other parents so if you can help, please contact the PTA and we will put you in touch with Emma Linnitt who has kindly agreed to coordinate again this year.

When sending food into school please remember our “no nuts” policy.  Hot dishes should be delivered to the staff room as close to 12 noon as possible as we do not have facilities to cook or reheat food in school.  Other food can be dropped off in the PTA office from 8am.

PTA Shop

The PTA sells a variety of items, including the stationery on Year 4-6 stationery lists, lined white boards for handwriting practice, recorders, hair ties, second hand uniform, tennis balls, mosquito repellent and second hand uniform. We also stock cards and wrapping paper.

Parents are always welcome to pop in for a cup of tea or coffee. We are open Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 8:15am – 2:45pm

Silver Week

The school Silver Week 25th Anniversary Celebrations will take place from Monday 12 June to Friday 16 June. There will be an Open Afternoon on Wednesday 14 June with afternoon tea, school tours and displays. Please click here for the poster. Please mark your calendar and help us to spread the word to the wider community. If you are able to put this poster up somewhere then please collect one from the PTA or school office. If you’re in touch with any ex-students or parents then please ask them to get in touch with old photographs or recollections/stories/memoirs for the displays. They can contact barbara.brock-hollinshead@cwbs.edu.hk.
