PTA News

Welcome back from your summer holidays, we hope you had a great holiday.

We would like to welcome May Bevan and Sarah Nicholson to the PTA team as our new part-time administrators. They will be working alongside Kerensa.

The new school bags and book bags have been quality checked by the supplier and are now available for purchase.  They are made from recycled plastic bottles and are lightweight and durable.  The cost is $250 for a school bag and the library and Chinese book bags are $30 each. The Library will not loan out library books unless students have a CWBS book bag and the Chinese department strongly recommends using the Chinese book bag to store the Mandarin folder and worksheets.

Following the success of the book sales at the end of last term, we will be running a couple of book sales / bake sales this year.  We will be asking parents to donate items for sale and will also need volunteers to help run the events. The two book sales raised over $10,000!

Our fundraising focus this year is to raise money for the new playground climbing frame.  All profits from PTA events will be put towards the new playground equipment so please support our events in any way you can.  Most of the funds will be raised at the school fair on 4th November 2017, 1-5pm.  There will be lots of information about the fair and what you can do to help in forthcoming newsletters.  We also raise funds by selling new stationery and second hand books and uniform in the PTA shop.  The stationery is very reasonably priced (sometimes cheaper than local shops) and stocks all items needed on the Year 4 – 6 stationery list.  We issue receipts for purchases so you can send your child in to buy items if they need to purchase anything.  However, we do not recommend sending in large amounts of cash to school.

PTA Information and Coffee Mornings for New Parents

There will be two Information and Coffee Mornings for new parents on Monday 14 and Tuesday 15 August. Please come a long to find out about the PTA, buses, hot lunches, events etc. It is a great opportunity to meet other parents in your child’s class. We look forward to seeing you then.

When: Monday 14 & Tuesday 15 August,

Time: 8.15-9.30am

Where: Multi-purpose room, 1st floor

PTA Annual General Meeting (AGM)

The date for the AGM is likely to be Tuesday 19 September (to be confirmed later). The meeting will be held in the school hall and all parents are encouraged to attend. Please look out for information about the AGM in future newsletters.

If you would like more information about what is involved in being a committee member, please contact us. We like to have a mix of parents from all year groups, including year 1, to ensure good representation.

New Class Contacts

With the new school year, we need new Class Contacts for each class (two per class). Anyone is welcome to apply, whether you are a new parent or not. Class Contacts help act as a liaison between the PTA and the class parents. It is very important to have class contacts for each class, so please offer to help if you can.

Events in August & September

Monday 14 & Tuesday 15 August, 8.15-9.30am:       PTA Information & Coffee Morning

Friday 8 September,                                                   Sausage Sizzle Lunch

Friday 22 September, 1-3 pm:                                   Book Sale / Bake Sale

Lost Property

We accumulate a lot of Lost Property, so please make sure all your child’s clothes are labelled properly with their name and their class. Please review the labels on all items your child brings to school and update if required.

Please show your child where in the hat their name is written and encourage them to check that the hat they are using is their own. A lot of the hats in the lost property box are badly labelled – either faded so it’s hard to read or with the name of the previous owner or sibling – or not labelled at all. We suggest writing the name or placing the name label on the underside of the brim so that children and staff can easily identify the owner.

We sell laundry markers in the PTA office for $11. Blank Sheet sell labels for clothing and bottles/boxes and offer a very good discount (30%) to CWBS parents. View products and prices at www.blanksheet.com.hk.

PTA & Uniform Shop Opening Hours

This term the PTA office will be open every day from 8:00am – 2:45pm and the uniform shop will open on Mondays from 8am – 4pm. Parents are always welcome in the PTA Office so please pop in anytime you are in school.
