Principal’s News

Dear Parents

Summer concert

Our Summer Music Concert last Tuesday 18 June was a great success. This year it was staged as two separate concerts, a Choirs concert with the junior and senior choirs performing and then an Ensembles concert showcasing the creative movement, xylophone, recorder and ukulele groups. A performance was also staged during the school day for students across years 1-6 to enjoy.

Congratulations to all singers and performers on a high quality, very entertaining concert. A big thank you to all staff involved including Ms Helen Read, Ms Kathryn Cox, Ms Jennifer Doo and our music staff Ms Carmen Lam and of course, Mr Ryan Brodersen.

Year 6  Graduation and farewell

Our Year 6 graduation assembly on Tuesday 25 June was a wonderful celebration marking the end of our Year 6 students’ primary schooling. A very moving graduation song, student recollections and memories from their younger years, as well as their hopes and dreams for the future had many parents and staff reaching for the tissues. Congratulations to our year 6 students for the original words in the graduation song and the scripting of the whole assembly. The videos created and shown will be available on Cahoot and the parent page of the website.

Parent Volunteer morning Tea

Our morning tea, held on Thursday 20 June, to thank all the parent volunteers who helped out during the year, was very well attended. The great support from parents in a whole variety of ways in classrooms, on excursions and trips, with clubs and sporting events and through the PTA and School Council ensured we were able to provide a broader and richer learning experience for students this year.

End of year reports

Just a reminder that end of year student reports were released online through the parent gateway on Wednesday 26 June. Please contact the School Office if you need assistance or want a hard copy provided.

The start of next year

Just a heads up that the school year next year starts slightly differently to previous years. It does not start on a Monday, but begins midweek, with the first school day for all students being Wednesday 14 August 2019.

End of year message

A big thank you to all parents for your support during the year. It is this support and the partnership between parents and the school that promotes student learning and helps to build a strong sense of community within the school. This has certainly contributed to the success of this year.

Finally, can I wish all families a happy and safe summer break.

Principal

Please ensure you keep the receipt!  Thank you for supporting our global library!

CWBS Green Journey 2019/2020

Continuing our Green journey at CWBS in 2019/20

As we embark on our summer holidays we would like to encourage you to think ‘green’ if you are buying items over the holidays for the return to school in August. We know that a new school year often means the purchase of new school items but we hope that many of our students will be able to reuse many of their current items if they are still in good condition. We can reduce a great deal of our waste by reusing what we already have.

If you are purchasing new items please have a think about whether you can choose a more sustainable option. Aluminium water bottles and metal or silicone snack and lunch boxes are a good alternative to plastic. The PTA has many school uniform items available for sale at discounted price rather than buying new.

Thank you for helping CWBS to be a sustainable and environmentally friendly place for our students. We look forward to sharing more environmentally conscious initiatives throughout next year.

Environmental Sustainability Coordinator

Climate Change March

The Student March for Climate Action Hong Kong was held on Sunday 26 May and more than 200 people, including Siannen marched from Luard Road to the Government complex in Central.  She held up two placards, “Take More Action” and “No More Plastic” .  She stayed for the speeches and ended the day with a nice vegetarian lunch.  Siannen is ready for the next Climate Action march
