PTA News

Thanks to all parent volunteers who assisted the PTA and students at the recent Year 4 & 5 Scottish Ceidlhi Dancel, and Family Bingo evening. We wouldn’t be able to run these events without you, and we are very grateful for your time. Special mentions to Mr. Craig our CWBS PE teacher who led the Scottish dance in full traditional dress, and Tara Delaney Master Bingo Caller!

We would like to invite non committee members to form a group to help shape and organise the next School Fair in November 2018, so please get in touch with the PTA if you are interested.

As you are aware, the PTA handles many events, and you can do simple things to help. Be mindful when sending your children into school with money to pay for events. If you have not written their name, class and event on a payment, we have to spend a lot of time trying to work out what’s going on.  We will be providing lunch for well over four hundred students next Friday. Pictured is an example of two ‘mystery’ sausage sizzle payments we’ve received in the PTA this week. Answers on a postcard please.

Please contact he PTA if you can volunteer at either the next Social or Sausage Sizzle

PTA Fees

The PTA would like to remind parents. PAYPAL invoices for the annual PTA Fee sent recently to all families are genuine, and please pay them at your earliest convenience.
You can settle your bill online by clicking on the View and Pay Invoice button displayed in the email, using either a credit card or your PayPal account if you have one.  If you are not able to pay with a credit card please contact the PTA administrators.
PTA fees for next school year will be billed at the start of term one, in August 2018.
We hope this clarifies matters for everyone and look forward to receiving your payment as fees are now due.

School Back Packs

Due to quality issues, the school back packs will be sold at the greatly reduced price of $100 per bag from Monday 4th June.  The PTA apologises for the quality issues experienced with these bags.  Unfortunately, we were not able to reach agreement with the supplier to resolve the issues by replacing the pocket zips and now have a stock of bags that we cannot sell at retail price. If you purchase a bag for $100 please be aware that the PTA cannot offer any exchanges or refunds.

For everyone who bought a bag at the original price we are offering a back pack free of charge.  Just go to the PTA office on or before 1st June with your full-price back pack to claim your free of charge bag.  Please note, this offer expires on Friday 1st June.

History Project

CWBS student James Letters, and his father Paul have created a marvellous history project designed to keep young minds away from screens.

Tomorrow morning, the latest podcast of this project goes out, Episode 7. ‘What was Australia like before Europeans arrived?’ (Part II)

WARNING: James gets a spear and learns how to use it!

It’s the final part of their Australian adventure, and they spend the day with Mark Jones and his family. Mark runs Straddie Adventures, aboriginal culture tour specialists on Queensland’s North Stradbroke Island (known as ‘Straddie’).
