PTA Newsletter Friday 10th August 2018
Welcome back! We hope you had an enjoyable summer. PTA staff, Sarah, Angela and Kerensa will be in the PTA office, ready to help with volunteers, enquiries and sales of stationery and second hand uniform. Please drop by any time you are in school.
The PTA will be hosting a welcome coffee morning and presentation for all new parents on Monday 13th and Tuesday 14th August in the multi-purpose room on level 1 from 8:30 – 9:30am. Join us to meet other parents and find out more about the PTA and the events we run.
Please look out for an email from PayPal with a bill for PTA fees – the PayPal email address is email@example.com and it will be labelled as ‘Clearwater Bay School PTA LTD’, as shown in the picture below. When you open the message, you can click on the View & Pay Invoice button and choose to pay online with a credit card or with your PayPal account if you have one.
This bill will be for the current academic year, August 2018-June 2019 and the charge is per family, not per student. Fees are due no later than Friday 31st August, after which a late fee of $100 per family will be imposed.
If you have any questions about payment of PTA fees please contact PTA staff before the payment deadline. Fees must be settled in order for students to participate in PTA events.
We stock stationery items for Years 4 – 6, recorders, headphones (volume limited, so safer for young ears), lined white boards, hair ties, tennis balls, library book bags, Chinese book bags and school back packs. Our stationery is very reasonably priced (the same or cheaper than local shops) and we have the green and pink biros required in Years 5 & 6, which are hard to find elsewhere.
School backpacks are for sale at only $100 each. We had some issues with our supplier but we reached an agreement for the main zips to be replaced with better quality zips (YKK). Due to the below cost price, we are unable to offer a warranty on the backpacks. However, the bags have been well designed to accommodate tall water bottles in the pockets and sit in the cubby-holes in the classrooms.
Please buy from the PTA as all profits go back to the school. In the past, the PTA, with the help of parents, has raised money for books, playground and sports equipment, the climbing wall and garden.
If you would like to be a class contact for your child’s class please contact the PTA. We require two contacts per class, to assist the PTA with events and volunteers. Talk to PTA staff if you would like to find out more about the role. We will be holding a Class Contacts’ Coffee Morning early in the term. During this meeting, you will have a chance to meet other class contacts and decide which task you would like your class to do for the school fair.
The PTA’s Annual General Meeting will take place on Wednesday 19th September at 6:00pm. All parents are encouraged to attend to hear about the PTA’s plans for the coming year and vote in the new committee. We need a quorum for the vote to be valid so please attend if you can. Refreshments will be served.
If you would like to join the committee, please contact PTA staff who will be happy to provide you with details on the role of the committee and how to join.
2018 Fair – Think Green
Preparations for the 2018 CWBS Fair on 3rd November are underway and the theme this year is ‘Sustainability’. If you have any good ideas for local projects or businesses that could support our efforts to put on a fantastic fair that cares about its carbon footprint, please get in touch with the PTA.
If any children’s groups would like to perform, e.g. dancers, bands, theatre groups, gymnasts, musicians, etc. please send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org. We have a limited number of performance slots and they get booked up very quickly.
CWBS parents and staff are invited to apply for a vendor table at the fair. Vendor tables are extremely popular so please email the PTA to register your interest and you will be sent an application form in due course.
