Learning Resource Centre (Library)
Learning Resource Centre
The Learning Resource Centre (LRC) endeavours to make pupils and staff effective users of information and to promote a lifelong love of reading. The Library is central to the learning of the School. Information literacy and literature promotion are taught collaboratively with the classroom teachers and are embedded within the Units of Inquiry.
The LRC provides a variety of resources, both physical and virtual, to enrich the school curriculum. Students have access to a well resourced collection of fiction and nonfiction books as well as Gale databases, Wheelers e-books and audiobooks. There is also a substantial mother tongue collection to support our multilingual students.
To promote reading, the LRC hosts author visits and students are encouraged to take part in reading challenges and competitions, such as Battle of the Books, throughout the year. The LRC supports and participates in the Golden Dragon Awards and Heifer Read to Feed.
Students are encouraged to visit the Library before school and at lunch time when they can borrow, read, construct in the Makerspace and play games.
