PTA News
Welcome back! We hope you had an enjoyable summer and we look forward to seeing you all on Wednesday 14th August when term starts, or 15th August if you have a Year 1 child in the second group for the staggered start. PTA administrators, Sarah and Angela, will be in the PTA office next week, ready to help with volunteers, enquiries and sales of stationery and second hand uniform. Please drop by any time you are in school. The PTA office will be open before the start of term on Monday 12th and Tuesday 13th from 10am – 2pm. From Wednesday 14th onwards, the office will open every weekday from 8am – 2:45pm in term 1.
The PTA will be hosting a welcome coffee morning and information session for all new parents on Wednesday 14th and Thursday 15th August in the multi-purpose room on level 1 from 8:30 – 9:30am. Join us to meet other parents and find out more about the PTA and the events we run.
2019 Fair – Amazing Rainforest
Preparations for the 2019 CWBS Fair on 2rd November are underway and the theme this year is the rainforest. If you have any good ideas for local projects or businesses that could support our efforts to put on a fantastic fair that cares about its carbon footprint, please get in touch with the PTA. Fair preparation meetings have been scheduled and anyone who is keen to find out more or help out is welcome to come along. The first fair meeting will be on 22nd August.
Last term, students voted on which charity to support and WWF HK was the winner. WWF will receive 5% of the profits and will be running a game at the fair.
If any student groups would like to perform, e.g. dancers, bands, theatre groups, gymnasts, musicians, etc. please send an email to cwbspta@cwbs.edu.hk. We have a limited number of performance slots and they get booked up very quickly.
CWBS parents and staff are invited to apply for a vendor table at the fair. Vendor tables are extremely popular so please email the PTA to register your interest and you will be sent an application form in due course.

28 August, 8:30-9:30am – Class Contacts meeting, multipurpose room level 1.

16 September, 6:30pm – PTA Annual General Meeting, all parents welcome.
20 September, 6:30-7:45pm – Family Bingo, a fun evening for parents and students of CWBS (sorry, no siblings who aren’t CWBS students). The registration form will be sent by email on 11 September.
Registration for events is by online form and the link will be sent to parents by email from info@cwbs.edu.hk. Parents are requested to sign up for events and send in payment after registration. If you are registering more than one child, please pay for all children with one payment and not separately for each child.
Most importantly, when sending in payment, please label it with your child’s first name, surname and class. Do not clip cash in to your child’s diary as the EA or teacher then has to label it for you before delivering it to the PTA office.
PTA Shop
We stock stationery items for Years 4 – 6, recorders, headphones (volume limited, so safer for young ears), lined white boards, hair ties, tennis balls and book bags. Our stationery is very reasonably priced (the same or cheaper than local shops) and we have the green and pink biros required in Years 5 & 6, which are hard to find elsewhere. We now also stock A5 recycled paper note books required in Year 4.
Please purchase from the PTA as all profits go back to the school. In the past, the PTA, with the help of parents, has raised money for books, playground and sports equipment, the climbing wall and garden.
Class Contacts
We require two parents per class to help the PTA keep everyone informed about events. Talk to PTA staff if you would like to find out more about the role. We will be holding a Class Contacts’ Coffee Morning on 28th August and everyone is welcome. During this meeting, you will have a chance to discuss the fair task for your class and have some input into events planned for the year.
AGM
The AGM will take place on Monday 16th September at 6:30pm. As per ESF recommendations, we will be proposing a resolution to change the PTA’s status from a limited company to an association. Full details will be provided well in advance of the meeting. Please put the date in your diary and attend if you can as we need a quorum in order to be able to pass a resolution and validate the meeting.
