Dear parents
School Fair – Tomorrow Saturday 2 Nov 12.00pm-4.00pm
Final preparations and setup are underway for our school fair tomorrow starting from 12 noon and finishing by 4.00pm. This event is undoubtedly the biggest event on the school calendar, so do come along and support the PTA and school by helping out or participating in the many activities on offer. There will be numerous student performances on the central stage as well as the usual range of food, drink and commercial stalls as well as games, activities and entertainment for students. It is always a great opportunity to catch up with other members of the school community, either friends or acquaintances so fingers crossed for great weather and a great time for all.
Diwali – rangoli drawing
In the lead up to Diwali, the Indian festival of lights, which took place last weekend we were pleased to have Ms Meena Chainrai come in last Friday and work with all of the year 3 classes to produce a wonderful rangoli chalk drawing to highlight and celebrate this important festival for our Indian students and families.
Year 4 Learning Journey
All students in Year 4 proudly shared their learning with their families on Friday 25 October. At the completion of their Sharing the Planet unit of inquiry, students were confident and knowledgeable when demonstrating their understanding of the central idea “Living things share, compete and impact upon their environment.” Through a performance in the hall followed by displays in the classrooms, parents and guests were informed about the ways in which living things adapt to their environment, the interdependence within ecosystems and the impact that humans have on the environment. The depth of conceptual understanding and scientific knowledge was clear to see, as well as the development of skills such as drawing and writing. Feedback from parents, students and staff has been unanimously positive. Many thanks to parents and guests for taking the time to support the Year 4 learning journey, and to the teachers and EAs who worked tirelessly to make it possible. Congratulations Year 4 students!
Year 5 makers day
The Year 5s had an industrious time during their makerspace workshops over the last few weeks. Various workshops were on offer including sewing, woodwork, knitting, embroidery, crossstitch, joining, paper cutting and weaving. It was a great start to our market day unit, we were able to build up skills to prepare us for creating our products to sell next month.
Year 3 learning Journey
On Wednesday Year 3 shared their learning from their ‘How we express ourselves’ Unit of Inquiry with parents and relatives. Following a short presentation in the hall to explain the central idea of the unit ‘how the arts inspire people to express feelings and ideas’, and show the different skills and techniques they had explored, the focus turned to the classrooms where students set up to display their work and talk through their art works and the feelings and ideas expressed through them. The quality of work produced by students was truly amazing and commented on by many parents. Congratulations to all Year 3 students on their efforts and a big thank you to teachers and EAs for all their hard work supporting students for this event.
